Types of notepads and production methods
One of the key attributes of a business person, capable of emphasising their style, is a notepad. Among the many advantages of this product is its versatility. A notepad embodies practicality and orderliness in one's affairs. In addition, a branded notepad serves as an excellent image solution for presenting your firm or company.
A notepad is an indispensable helper in business, which can serve both individual needs and be presented as a small branded souvenir or gift. The company logo is usually applied to the front of the product, but at the customer's discretion branding can be applied to all the main sheets.
Types of notepads
Despite the variety of shapes reproduced thanks to modern equipment, the products come in standard sizes:
· A6 format — 10.5 x 14.8 centimetres;
· A5 format — 14.8 x 21 centimetres;
· A4 format — 21 x 29.7 centimetres.
The sizes are approximate, as everything depends on the customer's wishes.
A notepad consists of a main block, the volume of which ranges from 25 to 100 sheets, a backing and a cover. Ordinary office paper with a density of 80 gsm is used for the main block. It can be white or coloured. At the client's request, ruling can also be applied.
Ordinary cardboard is used to make the backing, while coated paper with a density of 250 to 300 gsm is usually used for the cover. When making notepads to individual order, it is possible to use collector-grade types of paper.
Products also differ in their binding method:
· Perfect (seamless) adhesive binding;
· Spiral;
· Wire-O;
· With staples;
· With clips.
The cost of printing notepads in Kyiv depends on the total print run of the required product, the dimensions of the item, the type of paper used and the number of pages. The price of the product is also affected by the presence of additional post-press finishing.
Making notepads
Printing notepads is a fairly complex process at each of its stages. As with any printed product, production begins with preparing the layout and choosing the design and format. This is followed by the printing of the product itself and post-press finishing.
The key element in creating image products is the design. For this, printing companies employ designers who can adapt the options proposed by the customer to the final attractive appearance of the notepad. When developing a product that will serve as a reminder of the advertised company, not only the colour solutions are taken into account, but also the psychological factor of how people perceive information.
After the product layout is approved, the printing itself takes place, carried out by offset or digital methods. For orders with a large print run, the offset printing method is used in most cases, while for a small number of notepads, and taking additional finishing into account, digital printing is preferable.
Post-press finishing includes:
· Coating the finished product with UV varnish;
· Lamination;
· Foil stamping of the cover;
· Embossing (congreve);
· Die-cutting of the product;
· Perforation.
The final look of the product depends on the quality of the materials used, the technological equipment and the designer's creativity.
